Bus Rides

Need a ride?  
Our drivers are friendly, our fares are reasonable and we pick you up at your door (for most trips). Typically, our buses stay within county limits, but each month we offer 3 out of county trips: 
--Alpena County Trip:   Walmart, Meijer, Lunch at an Alpena restaurant, and Save-a-Lot. Medical appointments are accommodated when possible. 
          When? First Monday and 3rd Friday of every month.
--Freddie's Family Market, Montmorency County:  Grocery Shopping and more
          When?  Last Friday of the month

New leadership at PICCOA

Dennis Fay was elected president of the board of directors at our February meeting. He resides in Presque Isle and has been active on our board for many years, most recently serving as vice president.  Hollie Sabatos stepped down after presiding as president since October 2015; she continues to serve as a trustee.

Our new vice president is Terry Rubeo of Rogers City.

Both Centers Closed

March 2, 2017:  Both centers are closed today as we attempt to dig out from more than a foot of snow!  We apologize for the cancellation of all programs including Home-Delivered Meals, Congregate Meals and Transportation.

Construction Ahead!

The Posen dining room will be closed for renovations from Sunday, Jan. 29 -- Saturday, Feb 11.
Congregate meals and Bingo will be canceled during that 2-week period.
We will re-open for Congregate meals on Sunday, Feb. 12th.
Meanwhile, all other Posen programs will be running as usual, including transportation, home-delivered meals, and in-home services.
We apologize for the inconvenience!

Disagreeable Weather

Both senior centers are closed today due to the ice and hazardous road conditions. Buses are canceled as are meals--both home-delivered and congregate. Exercise and bingo at the Onaway center are canceled, as well.

Introduction to Tai Chi

Introductory Tai Chi classes will start August 2nd at Thunder Bay Therapy in Rogers City (140 S Bradley Hwy).  The classes run for 6 weeks and are team-taught by certified instructors Christine Losinski (from the Council on Aging) and Arika Kunith, physcial therapist from Thunder Bay Therapy. There is no charge but you must pre-register.  Call us for more information:  989.766.8191.  

Cinco de Mayo Party!

We'd love to see you at our Cinco de Mayo party on Thursday, May 5 - Onaway center.  Music starts at 2 pm and features Charlie and Dave.  Dinner is served at 4:30 pm with a special menu including chicken enchiladas, spanish rice, refried beans and more!  

Project Senior Fresh - 2016

The distribution date for this year's Senior Project Fresh is June 23: Onaway senior center @ 10:00 a.m. and Posen senior center @ 1:00 p.m.  This is a wonderful program that awards seniors with free coupons to redeem at participating farmers markets and roadside stands for fresh, local, healthy produce.  Watch for more details in our May newsletter!

To qualify, an older adult must:

o    Be 60 years of age or older

o    Have a total household income of 185% of poverty or less 

o    Live in Presque Isle County

You're Invited! Valentine's Party

Please come and enjoy our Valentine's Day Party at the Onaway Center on February 11th.  Music, dancing, snacks and fun!  Live music by Charlie and Dale.  2 pm - 4 pm.  Free and open to the public.
Why not stay for dinner at 4:30 pm?  Just $3 donation for 60 years and older / $6 for under 60.

Turkey Dinner with all the Fixings!

Join us for a delicious homemade turkey dinner on Thursday, November 19th.  Kitchens at both centers--Onaway and Posen--will be cooking up a storm and serving turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes/gravy, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie and more.  As usual suggested donation is just $3 for those age 60 and older (under 60: $6).  Bring your family, meet your friends and neighbors and enjoy!
